For builders, architects & interior designers
The electrical partner for builders & designers in Chattanooga & North Georgia.
Bring River City Electric in at plan review. We plan the power, lighting control, shades, audio, EV charging, and backup power with the architecture—then wire, program, and stand behind it after move-in.

How we work with the trade
Brought in at the drawings, not after drywall.
The best-finished homes are the ones where the electrical plan was settled before rough-in. When we see the plans early, keypads land where they respect the millwork, shade pockets are framed before the windows go in, and the panel has room for everything the house will ask of it.
One licensed team handles the wiring and the systems on top of it—Lutron lighting control and shades, Sonos audio, Power Shades, Samsung Frame TVs from a Samsung dealer, Tesla charging, and Generac or Kohler backup power—so there is one schedule to coordinate and one number to call.
- 01
Plan review before rough-in
We review drawings, fixture schedules, and window and ceiling plans, and flag what needs a decision before framing closes in.
- 02
Programming in-house
Lutron Caséta, RadioRA 3, and Lutron shades are installed and programmed by our own team—not handed off to a third party.
- 03
Service after the sale
After move-in, the calls come to us, not your builder. Your clients reach the team that wired the house.
Pre-wire checklist
What to settle before drywall.
A practical list we walk through with builders and designers at plan review. Not every home needs every item—but every item is easier to decide now than to open a finished wall for later.
Lighting control & Lutron
- Fixture schedule shared, so loads and dimming can be planned
- Keypad and dimmer locations marked on the plans, clear of cabinetry and trim
- Neutrals and box depth confirmed at every control location
- Caséta or RadioRA 3 chosen, with a location for any system equipment
- Exterior, landscape, and path-light circuits planned with the interior scenes
Shades
- Shade pockets or headers framed with the window plan
- Power and control wiring at each shaded window
- Lutron shades or Power Shades selected with the window-treatment plan
- Shade keypads grouped with lighting controls where it makes sense
Audio & Sonos
- In-wall, in-ceiling, and outdoor speaker locations set with the ceiling plan
- Speaker cable paths roughed in from each speaker to the equipment location
- A ventilated equipment location with power for amps and components
- Outdoor zones—porches, patios, pool areas—included from the start
TV walls & Samsung Frame TV
- TV locations marked, including over-fireplace walls
- Recessed box for power and low-voltage set behind each TV
- Conduit from the TV wall to the equipment location
- Wall framing confirmed for a flush, low-profile mount
EV charging
- Charger location marked on the garage or exterior plan
- Panel capacity reserved for a dedicated charger circuit
- Circuit run to the charger location before drywall
- Tesla Wall Connector installed by a certified Tesla installer
Backup power & panel capacity
- Generac or Kohler generator location planned outside
- Transfer equipment and the backed-up circuits decided early
- Service size and panel space confirmed for every planned load
- EV charger and other major loads included in the backup plan
- Every circuit labeled and the panel left tidy at trim

Walkthrough & after the sale
A plain-language walkthrough for the owner and builder—and the same team on call for changes after move-in.
Service after the sale
After move-in, the calls come to us.
We take pride in what happens after the handoff. When a homeowner wants a scene changed or has a panel question, they call River City Electric—not your project manager.
Fewer callbacks for your team
Lighting control, shades, audio, and power questions come to the electricians who installed them.
Scenes that change with the owners
New routines, a new room, a keypad that should do something else—adjustments go to the team that programmed it.

Questions
Working with River City Electric, in plain English.
When should a builder or designer bring you in?
At plan review, before rough-in. That is when loads, keypad locations, shade pockets, speaker paths, charger circuits, and panel capacity are easiest to plan—and before drywall makes changes expensive.
What should we send for a plan review?
Floor plans, and the fixture schedule and window plan if you have them. Tell us which systems the owners are considering—lighting control, shades, audio, Frame TVs, EV charging, or backup power—and we’ll take it from there.
Do you program the Lutron systems yourselves?
Yes. We install and program Lutron Caséta, RadioRA 3, and Lutron shades in-house, so the team that wires the house also sets up the scenes and keypads.
Who handles service calls after move-in?
We do. After move-in, the calls come to us, not your builder. Homeowners reach the team that wired and programmed the house, Mon–Fri, 8 AM–4 PM.
Where do you work?
Chattanooga and North Georgia, including Signal Mountain, Ooltewah, Collegedale, Hixson, Ringgold, and Dalton. River City Electric holds Tennessee electrical license #75272 and Georgia electrical license #EN218035.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. Planned work includes a free estimate based on the plans and the systems the owners choose.
